My top 5 favorite white paint colors

Selecting a perfect white paint color can be daunting. There are hundreds of different white colors all across the board with different hues, tints, and undertones. In my experience in being a color consultant I’ve curated a selection of white paint colors that I have used time and time again that I am confident are great coordinating neutral whites and I’m here to help you find the right one for your project!

Pure White is -in my opinion- the most neutral white color that Sherwin Williams offers. It doesn’t have a distinct cool or warm undertone, it’s very middle ground neutral. It isn’t too stark but has a great contrast to any color you pair with it. This is likely my most popular white trim color that I use, inside and out. It looks great with almost any other color so it’s my go-to top choice!

Extra White is a crisp and clean, bright white. It’s great for ceilings and bright reflective trim/millwork. It has cool undertones so if you’re looking for a stark white, this is your color! I would say this one leans more modern/contemporary, especially if you love that bright white contrast.

Alabaster is a really great warm-toned white color without having a yellow undertone that most people like to avoid. It’s very popular amongst the farmhouse style and newer build houses but would also work great for any classic home too! It has a lot of richness but looks fresh and creamy against complimenting colors. It’s a great option for exterior trim work or any walls, trim, or cabinets in your home!

Snowbound is a fresh, soft white with a hint of cool grey undertones. I like this color for more modern, contemporary, and clean-styled houses. It’s great for interior trim work and cabinets- it can be used on the exterior but it might be too reflective/bright for some people’s taste. It definitely leans more modern than traditional.

White Duck is one of my all time favorite trim colors because it’s very rich, neutral, and complimentary for houses that need more substance than a bright white. I describe it as a “putty” color and I find myself using it as a toned down cream for those that don’t love a harsh contrast.
